I am assuming somebody is trying to kill the tree and from what you have shown not a wise idea with buildings so close I have never seen this before sorry to sound stupid but what is ring barking?have they put somthing in it then?if i was a neighbour i would not be too happy at all looks like it could cause a big problem if it came down in the direction of the houses why would somebody do somthing so senseless ?why not get the tree felled does it look like its in anyone's way that they would want to sabbotage the poor tree like that?

hard to say who would be the obvious perpetrator although it was suggested it could of been a tree surgeon touting for buisness

another shows an old ring barked tree very close to it

and the other is some work that has been carried out without permission and they even left the chips:confused1:

Even though all the trees in this area is covered by a TPO as a result of some felling further up the woodland:thumbdown:

I was going to suggest that maybe work was a bit slack.....haha.

 

Whats the state of the canopy on the previously ring barked tree???

 

you would not know anything had been done to it

looked a perfectly healthy chestnut tree:biggrin:
