Softwood thinnings - MS261 or 346XP ?!

What's the point; 346 is 50cc (up from 46cc) and the 562 will be 60cc; pointless having a 57cc in the middle - in the xp range anyway; I'm sure the 57 will carry on in non xp form.

Id go with 346. revvy little bugger and just wants at it all the time from my experience. they get even better with use too!

 

as far as handling/ergonomics go, Its the most comfortable, and easy to flick around saw ive ever used, on number 2 now. that front handle is a joy to move from one grip position to another for felling, snedding, whatever. so smooth a radius

260 and 261 are very different saws tho..

MS260 / 1. Some of my guys use and have used Husky's and they break!! I have had one, broke, two others I know have had them...you guessed it broke! I could go on...

13" bar on a 260 and you'll be delighted. Some like the 15" for making snedding easier.

had mine nicked a few weeks back [gutted]

was given a brand new 261 the next day by the boss [even more gutted]

told him i was going to sell it to buy another 346,so he give me a 357xp [cant grumble ]

still miss the old 346xp will get another one day

Please please PLEASE stop going on about the 260 !!! Had them, done that, old saw been superceeded...:banghead:

I haven't had the pleasure of a 261. I have never really liked the balance or fell of the STIHL saws which is why most of mine are Husky ones. Get down to the dealer and pick them both up and you'll probally make your mind up just doing that.

 

In reality both will do the job its which you perfer to use. 50% of people will say you should have got the other one regardless.

 

Have you considered a 357 or are you like me waiting for the 562xp? I do prefer the manuverability of the 346 but for not much extra weight you get a lot more saw. Did a winter of final Larch crop 18-22" dbh with 15-18" bars on the 357 much easier going than with the 346.
