I use it all the time, its my main lowering rope. I've always had the 750kg figure in my head and thats the weight of my chipper! I figure I'm bever likely to be brave enough to cut something that weighs the same as my chipper and expect the rope and groundie/grcs to hold it!!

 

45m should be ok if not then a smaller lowering rope in a longer length would do as at 22m your are not likely to be rigging heavy stuff!

To arrive at a figure of 750kg, you have to start with the average breaking strength (16,800lbs, 7348.19 kg)

 

10:1 SF, 750 kg ish.

 

I think HB are being a little optomistic.

 

I was under the impression that SWL should be calculated from the MBS rather than the average BS, but I could be completely wrong!

call it 650-750 ish then. you can't estimate a branch weight accuratly anyway so its all guesswork. 16mm is a good rope which will do most things, as long as you don't shock load it. Its all in the lowering device really.
