this is the one i made up. inserted a type of solid bungee cord into the splice after the core had been taken out to hold itself open for retrieval. nice to climb on but a pain in the arse to retrieve. i always get problems with the alu ring on the webbing rope guide getting stuck in tight crotches and thought this would be the answer. at the moment, its not:mad1:

that looks very posh but could you not of put a ring on the end so the cocoon would pull through easily?

The whole point of the spliced eye is to eliminate the ring. The eye should spring open to allow the pulley through, but collapse under tension from the retrieval end so it pulls through tight forks.

This is my guide

Hi Rob.

Doesn't the shackle get stuck in the pulley?

Have you spliced something into your rope, that makes it stiff? Or is it just a normal rope with an eye splice?

my one, made by me

changes to it are, i now have a 4 wrap prussic as opposed to teh blakes, i still have the shackle on teh end and i now have a thin bit of cord heading off to the retieval shackle. its at work just now so i can't show any pics.

i think the main rope is a meter and a bit and spliced both ends. finished off with my special whipping
