best chainsaw for alaskan mill?

just wondering what the best chainsaw is to buy for my alskan mill. . . . i am leaning towards an ms880. . . . just the price seems a bit much

More power=better.

 

I have a 660 with a 3' bar on mine. It works but its deadly slow on hardwoods when using the 3'. When using 20-25" bars its much better. I wish i had waited a month and saved the money and got a 880/3120.

if your only using it once in a while, just on the alaskan id go for a s/h 076,

well its not a big modern saw

 

old saws will always rule for chainsaw milling, they have more torque for this sort of work

 

Stihl 070 or 090, Sachs Dolmar 153 or 166 you cant go wrong

the biggest saw u can find, ive only had a go with an 090 and thought that was ok

Adding to the question: I will be using my alaskan mill quite a bit and I am remote so fuel efficiency is a big concern. Would you still go with the 880?
