it was a pruning cut about 6" across, someone had topped it years ago and i was asked to take off a side limb over the nieghbours, no bother says me, holy smoke!!It was squirting out, i wrapped it in a big rag and taped it up lol.. :biggrin:

This is common in Birches. Tree clotting method to stop sap bleeding. Often has an orange tinge as well.

 

The Russians tapped the Birches (to make a very strong booze) so much during the horse drawn era hundreds of acres were destroyed as the trees bleed to death.:001_rolleyes:

rangermatt that looks pretty much the same as whats on the birch, that came quick on yours though.

 

Yep. We cut the tree down only 6 weeks ago and it was dripping during the day. Going to be cutting the stumps down and treating them soon. Got a carbide tipped chain on the way and a set of chipper chains as well. The stumps havent been cut for a few years and the boss wants em dead.

Just been talking to my supplier about those chains, be good to know what you think of them and if there worth the price.

 

Will let ya know as soon as we start stump cutting.
