Yes all well and good if you can easily get cordwood, for those of us on islands things are somewhat different.

Space is not an issue for me so would love to stockpile...

If you buy it now it does not need to be kiln dried. Which island are u on. I would think it would be cheaper to get bulk bags on an arctic.

Yeah i am on the Isle of Man, and what you have suggested is exactly what i am trying to do at the moment, except i am aiming to bring over an acrtic tipper which is 65 - 70m3. Bulk bags does not seem economical enough.

Everyone (as in the suppliers) are very keen to try and sell their kiln dried logs, but all i really want is hard wood logs that i can put into vented log bags to season. Its early days but hopefully i will get something sorted in the next month or two.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for me pls feel free to pm me!!:thumbup1:

You have found the solution. now u just need to find a firewood man near your port. Preferably with a teleporter to load 70 cu metres fast to cut down waiting time.

isnt it ridiculous buying from latvia when i live in the forest of dean . gone are the days of buying wood locally to many bosses and rules at forest enterprise. oh come back the good old days sadly not to be seen again

With a few contacts and a bit of local knowledge you should be able to overcome this.

I was told today that it was cheaper to ship logs to Sweden that it was to ship to the Isle of Man.

Is it rude to ask what profit margin people are achieving storing and retailing logs? I was hoping that selling 5 m3 bags a week would make at least £150, dont think its worth doing it for less. Even at that i am having serious doubts, its all about shifting volume i suppose.
