How selfish are people nowadays

I know people are all for themselves nowadays and when driving for example, won't let you out of junctions etc.

But today, I was driving along a minor road, traffic was slow and I noticed a Police Transit, 3 policemen in it waiting at a junction on the right wanting to turn right.

There were 6 vehicles ahead of me, 4 turned right into the junction were the police van was coming out of, non let them out, when they so easily could have done so.

It was obvious they were going somewhere to a job, but you can guarantee the person who called will probably be a selfish barsteward same as these that didn't let the van out and will complain about how long it took the police to attend after their call to them.

Bugger me, if it didn't happen again farther on to an ambulance and it was me both times that let them out. The easier and faster these vehicle get out of junctions and don't get held up the more jobs they can do and lifes they can save.

The last thing we want is for emergency vehicles and their crews wasting time sat in traffic.

my guess dean is the half dozen cars in front of you that wont let the police out of the junction have either had a recent speeding fine, been hit by an uninsured driver or been burgled and given a meaningless crime number lately.i respect your point and agree entirely, its a very selfish world that we live in however. steve

I know quite a few coppers, two of them firearms officers, one of them was involved in the menezes shooting.

Speak to any "decent" copper (and you'll find their are plenty about) and you will be told a tale of severe frsutration that they can't get out and do proper coppering because of paperwork and red tape.

You stop someone in the street, to search you have to fill in a long form and give them a receipt then fill in paperwork at the nick.

There are many decent copper out there that want to do a good job but can't....... and that is from someone who did nine month in Armley prison for beating up two of them :scared1:

I'll explain....

I witnessed them beating up on a two lads, so instead of just witnessing what I had seen, daft arse Dean give them both a crack and asked them how they liked being punched, it ended up with about 8 police cars attending and all hell breaking loose, it also resulted in threats to me for months after, they even came out in civvies mob handed looking for me.

I never got chance to plead my case or say what happened as my barrister said if you plead not guilty and get found guilty you are looking at 3 years.

I am one of these that will help anyone and hate to see people getting hurt or bullied, it can go against you sometimes though.

I actually got away from the scene and was arrested 2 weeks later when they found out who I was. When I was being escorted by the custody seargent through the underground tunnel to the courts, he congratulated me and said I had made a lot of coppers in that nick happy, it was well known that these two coppers liked to dish it out and it's about time they got their comupance.

I was beginning to feel really bad up until that point and his comment made it all worthwhile, if you can look at it that way.

You really should write a book Dean, you never cease to amaze me, are you sure your only 43, as you sure have had a full life so far.

Me and my brother demolished our house, I was three and he was five. The council had to rehouse us.

You can't find stories like that in books !!

I'll divulge on another thread :001_tongue:
