Fungi - The brightest stars of the mycelial universe

Recommended Posts

I thought i would start a little thread for keeping a spot for the brightest and most beautiful of the fungi, as so many of my greatest images are getting lost in the behemoth postings I make these days! so somewhere to have a peek when you need to be reminded of the sheer beauty to be found whilst out and about in the woods.

If this thread doesnt inspire you to seek them out nothing will, this should become a veritable visual feast for the eyes!:001_cool:

I will start with a few that have been lost in the threads elsewhere, and add the best quality images of the most colourful fungi I can find as I discover them this year.

As always, enjoy:biggrin:

what about those blue/green ones me and darren found last year?

are they colourful enough?

can't remember which thread they were in?

Is this colourful enough? I'm not even sure it is a fungus? So I thought I would show it to you guys..

My dad took this photo in Southern Spain about a month ago. From what I remember I think he said it was on a Cherry log. I can check.. Any ideas what it is or if it's a fungus at all?:confused1:
