Sequoia vs treemotion

I've currently got a sequoia. It's a nice lightweight harness. Had it for nearly 2 years now. I tried on a treemotion today and it just felt right! So now I'm thinking to swap.

 

Should I? It's a big chunk of money, will it be worth it?

once you make the change you won't regret it! I love mine and I think the lower D rings make it very comfy as they are weight bearing as opposed to the high side rings that should only be used for a strop.

When you say strop you mean pole strop? I use my "strop" on the lower rings all the time as it give me a sit position in the same way as a main line. Then use the upper rings when working a pole/spar on spikes like you would any other harness.

 

I think I know what you meant though, but its still a strop/lanyard if its on the lower rings.

 

The treemotion is the only harness to allow work positioning in this way, and it sets it apart from everything else.

I agree Treemotion is wonderful, BUT it doesn't suit everyone, its not the only harness with work positioning D's the Austria Duo2 (not sure about 3) also have lower D-rings that can be used as an anchor point

I use my treemagic rings that connect the legloops and waist belt in much the same way as you have mentioned.

That's what I meant Rupe only my strop is rather long, about 10m more of a second line!

have to add my praise for the lower d's!

another thing they are handy for is when you are stropping in to a branch to one side, and your main line is coming from the opposite side, you can use the lower d's so the strop won't press against your waist. hopefully i've explained that ok - maybe if you try it for real you'll think 'ah that's what the idiot was on about!'

Rob, you know you can strop directly onto the gold rings on the Sequoia? Much more comfy if you have to hang your weight off your strop during an ascent without limbs to stand on etc.

 

Both great harnesses IMO.
