Thanks for the feedback chaps.

No access to MEWP, so i'll be climbing it which im happy doing.

As for price, there's a load of other work round the back so its a little bit of a 2 day job, but thanks for the guidance.

And no chance of felling and sticking plant pots on top!

20% crown reduction was what I was meaning, not 20% in height including trunk.

Thanks again!:001_smile:

aint that a question!

I gave up with percentages years ago and prefer to work from fixed points in the tree when pricing :thumbup1: . Im saving my green shield stamps up to get a lazer pointer, so I can show the customer where I would reduce a tree to without having to describe or quantify it

Hi All,

I am a new starter after some advice please.

Similar to the thread by Lancstree regarding a Syc, im after some advice regarding pruning a small Beech.

Customer wants general reduction to retain natural shape and try and drop it below the wires. Next door there are 2 larger Beeches which have been severely reduced recently by somebody. Cuts look professional, but they have had a heavy reduction.

Am I getting a bit close to spring to be performing a crown reduction to a Beech? Was thinking 20% absolute max.

The bloke I started with has been going 30 years plus, and he was quite relaxed regarding time of year, but that was just his way.

I would really value some other thoughts.

Cheers in advance,

Adam

Good luck.

I can't see how you will get the height below the BT if you want natural shape and only a 20% reduction. Maybe the tree is a lot shorter than it looks.

Be sure to post a picture of the finished job

PS for christ sake don't fell it, even as a joke.
