A basic license should get you possible a transit sized van plus a small 6inch chipper.

ie - vehicle 3500kg + 750kg towed implement.

 

Anything bigger is extra lessons and tests, ie - 7.5tonner's, bigger chippers.

 

Be warned - a sub 750kg chipper is extremely close to the weight limits. so dont be tempted to carry anything in the hopper!!

An oldie like me has tthe advantage my group A licence allows me to drive 7500 kgs and dont forget away round the 3500 kgs limit , a tractor can tow as much as it can pull poss 30,000 kgs so long its got brakes and lights etc. the 3500 kg threshold another example of the british way of strangulating free enterprise and making jobs for civil servants .
