Your using the device for something its not intended to.

Cambium saver is made for this job in hand.

Its like using a pole pruner for sending up a truck on the ground. There's always something made to do the job in hand

Sometimes you've got to improvise and make do.

I would say us tree people are some of the most problem solving people out there :thumbup1:

It's good practice to not mix PPE (climbing gear) & Rigging gear. Mark it as PPE or Rigging and use as such.

However, in an emergency you have to use what is available.

I see what you mean Tom But if something is available for the purposes and its not expensive.

Why not use it?

Good idea. Cheaper than a Ropeguide for example, And pretty much the same thing. Get a little tenex loopie sling, Mallon and a Pinto pulley and I reckon you'd have a sweet little set up mate.

Not designed for purpose but serves a purpose all the same.

But a normal cambium saver isn't availiable for the purpose! A rope guide is, but you're looking at mega bucks. If I'm right the OP needs to attach a line on a pollarded stem, Not over a normal branch like a normal cambium saver.
