A little yard

I've looked all over the papers, ebay, and the usual places for a small pocket of land in south yorkshire. Its for a yard for firewood storage and working. They're few and far between but maybe something might turn up. Anyone on here know of any?

I saw some in Sheffield the other day. They were in one of the older industrial parts of Sheffield - I would assume that there may be similar in Donny. No idea how much they were to lease or buy (both were available).

 

I think that driving around and looking for empty yards is maybe more fruitful than looking in papers.

 

I would have thought that Sheffield was too far but, if it isn't, let me know.

Take a drive around all the local farms in your area, dont be put of by the knock backs, there will be a farmer out there who as something suitable for what you need, when i moved to my new yard it took me nearly a year to find what i needed but when i did find my new yard it was alot cheaper than i expected to pay.

Try down by Marr, Barnburgh , areas, plenty of farmland etc to check out.

Sprotbrough. See there is some around in one or 2 pit villages, but it looks like hiroshima after the little barstools finished with it, puts me off a bit. Yes looking around farms is the better idea. I don't fancy having an untold amount of firewood that I'll have bought in go victim to the local game of petrol and match.

Like i said in my earlier post go and have a drive around a few farms so you can speak face to face, also take a business card with your details on it looks more profesional than scribbling your number down on a fag packet. alot of farmers are dubious about renting out sheds/barns bits of land as they have be stitched up in the past, one local to me rented out a large barn to some lads who filled it floor to ceiling with tyres then disappeared leaving him with the cost of getting rid of the tyres, so even though he as got empty barns he will no longer rent them out. Another thing is tell whoever you speak to that you are willing to pay the rent by direct debit, this then shows you are genuine and not a fly by night. Hope this helps.Egg

Polite direct face to face works for me. Look at something in writing though as I rented a barn a long time ago when starting in business and the man wanted cash then when we moved on he claimed we had not paid.

 

Told him to take me to the small claims and that was the last we heard.
