horsey folk went bonkers for wood pellets last year, with sawmills getting quiet, a cheap abundance of sawdust ran out. Once the horsey folk realised how easy it was to throw some pellets in a horsey bay, sprinkle with water and not have dust and mess they were happy to pay £360 per ton in little bags and put them in the back of their Rangey Sports(massive generalisation there)

Hi Darren. My old girl uses them for bedding cats in her boarding cattery.

they use Puffin Pellets who are up near Moray or somewhere but were cheaper than the previous suppliers she used.

hope all is well anyway

Do any of you guys produce and sell wood pellets for horse bedding?Just my brother sells horse feeds bedding etc & is looking to change from the company he usualy buys from he usualy gets 10kg bags premium pellets.

I can produce pellets for both horse bedding and cat litter it all depends on the price people are prepared to pay as I have a set minimum price per tonne that I need to achieve. We are also experimenting with dried grass pellets for horses made from our meadow hay.

We sell to a very clever stable owner who buys pellets to put in her stove so pays 5% VAT....:thumbup1:

I would have a problem with that as the wood we use for burning has to be virgin while wood for horse or cat litter can be recycled timber but can only be burnt in WID compliant burners.
