In this first image we see an unusual scenario, note the broken stem, and below an eared union. This is an exception to the rule, a very rare exception.

The other images show active unions with included bark, these are dangerous unions and have only in recent (12 months) gone active, i will of course document them as and when they fail..... oh they will fail!

Hi everyone,

I have recently taken the PTI course at Writtle college and have been given a preliminary pass.

I hadn't had too much experience in this area and reading the threads gave me some invaluable examples to chew over. Although I didn't know I would be committing hours of my life at the start it's worth it.

Keep up the good work and maybe I'll be offering up some of my own sightings for your deliberation soon.

Yeah mate don't let this slip just yet. I am off to Zigzag Hill (Sherborne) at the weekend a reknown Beech haven full to the brim with fungi brackets big enough for my daughters to lie across full stretch (why did I not keep the photos from last time!:blushing:) and forks with 'ears' an African elephant would be proud of. I will post up some findings.

VTA has always intrigued me and I have followed many posts on here that would make a fine book should anyone have the time to collate all the knowledge. Oh don't worry Hama I have Shigo, Mattheck and a number of books a collector would pay good money for but you just can't beat a good photo and a slip of information to clarify it all. Nice thread :thumbup1:

PM inbound your inbox mate. I meant Selborne in Hampshire, and not the famous Zigzag Hill at Shaftesbury for bikers!
