well I guess it could be Bjerkandera fumosa, it does look large but would have to check for a black line in the flesh between the pore layer and trama:biggrin:

looks like the samples ive seen, see the dark line abve the pore layer? not had a chance to do it myself yet but from what ive been shown yours has the dark line I believe.

 

dont hold me to it but think you have fumosa, is that as close as you can get?

You're right, to hasty , I meant brown and/or softrot caused by F. hepatica and white rot and/or (pale) brown coloured soft rot by I. dryadeus.

Hi gareth, I'd suggest looking at the Fistulina hepatica thread in fungi pictures, and a member called Fungus has an album on his profile I think. Also check Hamadryads bookclub, vta handbook- or visit treesource and buy a copy, it'll be money well spent!
