Homemade skidding arch- video!

Not had a chance to try her in the woods yet, but thought I'd give it a quick try in between showers dragging a lump of ash off the wood pile. The vid is in actual speed, pulled that bit of ash around the field in top gear with no wheelspin, so should handle much heavier stuff without a problem. Apologies for the bad quality and lack of sound, was taken on my phone. It's pretty shaky as well due to the high winds.

 

Power unit is a 1954 Mayfield garden tractor, with a 4hp villier Mk15, an Albion 3 speed gearbox with no reverse:thumbdown: and constant difflock.

 

 

Mountain bike disc brake fitted to axle to hold her still while changing gear. The plan is to find another power unit with reverse soon, so didn't want to spend too much on this one.

 

 

 

Tell me what you guys make of it. I tried embedding it but failed, if anyone can, please do.

Top gear is pretty quick on it, I have to admit. Probably wont be able to use it much in the woods. Think I'll try and find a two speed winch, plus put a nylon winch line in rather than a strap. Spent most of the time guiding the strap rather than winching.

Will be making a set of drop down ground anchors for winching as well.
