Vermeer BC2000 Drum Chipper issue

small sticks / branches are going under the drum and going up the discharge shoot and blocking or contaminating woodchip, there is no anvil on the chipper, is this common and is there a solution,

Have you checked if the blades have been sharpened past the minimum required width, easily done without noticing and it does make a considerable difference. Haven't got our manual at the moment but can check what the distance is if you need it.

I would say it was a blade issue like above.

That sounds like an odd setup.

 

Maybe wherever an anvil usually is is worn, therefore allowing small twigs to get dragged in rather than being chipped.

seems strange to me too, maybe there is something missing i.e. anvil!!, but it chips great, blades are brand new so not that, it doesnt look like it should have an anvil though. If anyone knows if it should please let me know!!

Hopefully someone will post who owns one but I would be very surprised If it wasnt supposed to have an anvil.

Drum chippers need an anvil! Perhaps it has slipped back from the blades or worn?

no anvil seems very strange,if its anything like the 1800xl there will be an anvil or bedknife behind the feed wheels on the floor in front of the drum

does it have a trapdoor underneath the drum?

Copies attached from the manual relating to the bed knife adjustment, not the easiest job in the world but if you need any more info let me know.
