hi does anyone no if i can do this

iv got a mog with chipper on back but my towhitch is so far back cant use a trailer my plan is to fab a tow bar and ball onto the end of the chipper and use a trailer not a heavy trailer only to carry the stump grinder on, would the police pull me for this as the tow bar is not attached onto the mog it would be on the chipper

cheers paul

I know that Mogy lol:thumbup1:, if it is a small pedestrian grinder i would rather stick it on the front of the MOG or stick it in the hopper, someone had a really good pic of 1 like that in the states i am sure. You need to make sure the arms can take the weight legally.

The guy to ask is B101uk, he will know:thumbup1:

To tow a twin axle trailer with a long draw bar you'll probably need to cut the base off your chipper and fit drop down legs.

Alternatively, I occasionally two a small trailer from my chipper. It's a 10 inch Jensen. I've had a ball fitted to the base and have to lower the chipper a bit to keep the trailer axles level. It works well but you must keep the speed down. Don't know if I could recommend it for regular use.

In either case, I would suggest calling Atkinson Vos as they manufacture the items you would need and have plenty of experience fitting it.

the one i've seen is adjustable [slides in an out] so assume you could slide long one out and slide shorter one in for normal use..

I did this once with my mog and got nicked :-(

so I bought a longer draw bar and run it under the chipper (but have to lift chipper as high as you can on linkage) there was a trailer on ebay which I think would be great for what you want like others had siad talk to akins vos and or parkiargi in essex.

Also you will have to look into this but you may need an O licence

you can remove the 2 bolts and slide out the tow hitch thats in at the moment and put a longer one in, but have it straight for a few feet and then angled up at say 20 degrees so when there is chip in the back it wont drag along the ground. you could also put tow bar on chipper but angle a bit wrong and like all old unimog chipper drops. If your trailer is balanced it wont put any extra weight on the back. I also I found a 3 point linkage frame for that chipper that means you can just lower it down and it will come straight off with just one pin, and it dead simple to back up and lift it back on again, its a nightmare putting that chipper on and off, thats what the angle iron welded on to the chipper is for, you can have it if you just cover the postage.
