I finished college in July and have been employed since, I think 3 of us are still doing it, but not sure what the rest are doing, I think some people expect to leave college and be a top notch climber without having spent time on the ground and the trees you climb at college are pretty ideal no nasty conifers or ivy covered stuff so some I think some people lose their motivation

How many were on your course Ewan?

Did the Staff where you were learning outline the realities of the industry before you chose the course?

There was about 12 of us at the start of the course Mike, my tutors had both varied experience in the industry one had done many years work with the forestry commission and had and ran his own business while the other had been a climber for a few years and liked his new and shiney tech, so we had the best of both worlds with someone with old school knowledge and another from the new school. They also made it very clear what working in arb was like and often told is that things were done differently than the way they had to teach it in the real world. As part of the course we had to do 400 hours of work experience on top of our course .
