hey peeps ,the rollers seem a little jumpy from time to time rather the being at a

steady pace , and yesterday while fiddling around i turned the machine off ,stop bar in etc and reached in the hopper to see if there was any play in the rollers and i found i was able to turn the rollers round by hand slightly , is this normal ? or are the splines or something wearing ? ...many thanks in advance :001_smile: the machine is a 98 entec chippit by the way

It could just be that the movement you are seeing is in the hydraulic system. The control valve ought to go closed centre to the motor circuit in the stop position.

If the movement still happens with the bar in the stop position it’s likely you hit the nail on the head with the wear, if it is wear I wouldn’t be surprised to find a “clunk” at each end of the movement.

Sorry, just reread your post, your is the same machine as mine, so you should be able to do as I did.

hi skyhuck , thanks for reply , ok just so i understand propaly would the splines be worn on the inside of the rollers then (female correct ?) or the splines off the

pump ? or both ? apoligies for sounding stupid

It depends what has worn, generally speaking the output shaft on a hydraulic motor is pretty durable and if anything wears it is usually whatever the output shaft is connected to (rightly so motors are dearer than most other components)

The only way to be sure is to get jiggy with the spanners.

Yes, on mine the motor spline held up very well, but the insert in the rollers would wear.

Entec supplied me with new inserts.

Its very important that you get them in straight or you will wreck the motor.
