Right, I need a chainsaw winch. Question is, which one? Which ones can you get in the UK? Can you get one with a drum AND a capstan? Where to buy in the UK? Are they all about a ton pull? (a ton is plenty for this contract)

 

Any pointers appreciated! :thumbup1:

This is what i use it's a Zollern capstain winch it will dead pull 1.7 ton.s i run it on a husky 362 dont want to go much smaller you can go bigger it will take sthil, dolmar , you can also run it with normal rope but you cant use the cage for that , there is a vid on y-tube ,

On that Lewis winch, it says it pulls 4000 lb on a 3/16 cable. Do they mean 2 tons on a 3/16" (4.8 mm) cable?

 

I'd be interested to know what sort of cable they use, and what sort of safety factor they're working to. The only cables of that diameter I've seen have minimum breaking loads of around 2 tonnes.
