Hi Folks

Is anyone aware of any incorrect way that you could use a lanyard to prevent pendulum impact. Always thought that as a supplementary aid to prevent injury that you could use it either through the main bridge or side rings; using either the provided carabina or snap lock, am I being thick???:confused1:

regards

Dave

i suppose the only wrong way you could use it would be clipping both into one side ring, or for using it to suspend your whole weight on the side Ds.but if you have a main line attached then it just becomes a work positioning strop

I clip both ends on one side and suspend my weight off the d's when advancing my main line quite often! Should I not? Is it dangerous, I've always felt safe and always done it

Thanks Rob thats my understanding too, just having a bit of a debate earlier with some of my students who had a different take on the idea .. like to keep proactive though.

Check out A guide to good climbing practice available from the following link..as Rob states supporting your weight off both side rings is considered bad practice when using an ajustable lanyard as the main attachment when advancing your main anchor point.

When work positioning I do clip both into one side. I don't get crushed by my system then.

It works but it isn't seen as bad practice. I've hung off one side d briefly before now.
