Poly Tunnels Wanted

As title really, has anyone had dealings with a cheap supplier of tunnels for log storage and nursery plants?

Ive had prices from a couple of suppliers but would rather have a recommendation.

Also, I am more than happy to buy second hand frames.

Would prefer the more modern, straight sided type but anything considered. In need of a minimum of 6m wide and 20m long to start with but multiples of this would be great.

Many thanks, Pete.

Pete,

Friends of mine have had 2 large multispan tunnels and 1 large shade house installed this year at their nursery. They where supplied by Northern Polytunnel, they are very good quality and where easy to erect.

I also believe that the price was also very competitive, I know that they got quotes from 3 or 4 companies.

I use LBS horticulture in Colne for my polytunnel plastic and Northern Polytunnels are part of the same group. I have spare polytunnel hoops available at £10 per hoop, plus £10 per pair of end bracing bars and £10 for the 5 mtr centre bars.Hoops are normally spaced 2.5 mtrs apart so 20 mtr tunnel will require 9 hoops 2 braces and 4 centres so £150. Transport would be extra and you need at least a 6 mtr bed to transport them. Rough guide I covered a 20 mtr tunnel last year and the plastic cost approx £450. Your quite welcome to come and look at our set up and I can give you plenty of tips on how to put the cover on without it flying away.

Thanks both of you. We have done a little searching for suppliers and Northern was one of the favoured ones we looked at!

John, I am very interested in your offer of second hand structure.

PM sent.

If anyone has any other input it would be much appreciated.

Cheers Dave.

How is the plastic holding up? Am i correct in thinking 10 years is about life expectancy?

Yes, I had mine recovered last year, but only because we had ripped two big holes in it, other than the holes it was in good shape.

The guy who recover mine said I should have rung him as soon as I had ripped it and he would have come and repaired it.

I take it you are using it for firewood Dave, or have you got green fingers?:001_rolleyes:

As you know since loosing all our greenhouses and sheds in the snow, my Dad needs some cover for this springs bedding plants and I need a new place for firewood seasoning/storage later in the year.

Still lots of glass to clear up yet though!

It was put up when I was getting into firewood, but then I decided retailing firwood was not for me, so its now just used for storage and some where for my dad to spit logs for his own fires.
