What's eating my tree?

that looks like rabbits, they do plenty of damage to ote with bark on it when the weather turns harsh.

 

 

 

how tall are the trees? sounds more like deer if they are with in the right height, or maybe even squirrels?

no they are hares! there are muntys there and squirrels too but the hare climbs the tree's first limbs are about 3 ft off ground,the trees that are eaten the limbs are only a ft off the ground, the highest i have seen hare damage is over 6ft
