My father stopped at 38 only because a good job came up driving a mulching machine and doing training, he saw it as the way out while he had the chance. It was definitely the worst thing he ever done he is now really overweight and suffers health problems.

No doubt old people do climb trees but I bet they arent very efficient.

I would imagine a lot depends upon personal fitness and injuries that have been picked up on the way.

If you enjoy it and can physically still do it then no reason to retire I think.

He must have thought I gotta get out at some point? He was still awesome at the time, fair enough didn't run about as fast but he didn't need to experience means you can do a job quicker but break less of a sweat IMO

I've been climbing twenty one years, no injuries but a few heart beaters, but I've got 6 lads working for me and I insist they have refresher courses ever five years.

You know the crack then North.

I agree with Daves (Skyhuck) 'use it or lose it' theory. I'm 43 this year, and a couple of years ago I was still doing all my own climbing, but carrying loads of niggling injuries. Now I don't do enough, and am getting porky.

Had a radge in the Levis shop in Eldon Square just before New Year and stormed out when the 34" 501's I tried on looked like spray-on lycra.

You can't win!
