Well i went for a interveiw today with St Edmundsbury bourgh council for the post of assitant arboricultral officer.

First one after qualifying last week. Dont think i got it , dont think ive had enough expereince and my fungi id was a bit ropey. I had to id some trees and assess them which i think i did ok , could have been a bit more precise but got through it, stammer went a bit mad thou..that was nerves.

But a good experince , il know what to look for in the future if i go for the post again or something simlar.

will know in a few days:confused1:

no mater what happens ask for feedback from the interview, it helps to highlight areas where you can focus for future and also looks like you take the process seriously even if you dont get the job, it makes you look more committed. May just sway the vote if the first choice doesnt accept it!

If you dont mind me asking? what qualification did you need to go for the job?

They wanted a certiifcate in arboriculture or tech cert or a btec would be acceptable. I got through the application stage because i got good grades in my BTEC (2 distinctions).

Will do Thurkers , im doing well mate , will let you know what happens.

Got the letter yesterday from the Council..didnt get it. Thought i wouldnt..no worries..didnt think i had enough expereince anyway. Just out of college and wanting to jump the gun.

Well plan B then, get some private work myself , get my self up and running as a sole trader / sub contracter.

Will get some feedback from the TO who did my interview, would like to know what i lacked.

Sorry to hear you didn't get the job.

Just a quick question though, as to why you wish to go straight to a TO job?

Have you thought of going on the tools for a while to get more commercial experience as to what can and can't be done..? I am sure this would help in the long run if you go for future interviews for similar positions.

Good luck with whatever you choose. :001_cool:
