Me and a mate discussed making something like that, but with a processor on as well. You would use the crane to feed both the processor and the big splitter, meaning that as a hire machine you could turn up at someones yard and split all their wood.

 

We came to the conclusion however that most tree surgeons don't have cranes and therefore their yards are full of rings. So I doubt threre would be enough work for it.
