I retain pegs as occasional tie in points, but only if required. They pose a real danger if you were to slip- there are enough dangers in this game without introducing more. Loose em

I'm not understanding the big peg fear.

I hate spikes and love to climb the tree if I can without leg clamps.

Have never hurt myself on a peg and only really require a clean stem when rigging the whole tree.

Not in disagreement with anyone because everyone likes their own way of climbing, but some of you must have had bad experiences and maybe I will too but def not bothered by pegs at the mo.:confused1:

If you learn to climb relying on pegs, what do you do when its a very clean tree with very few branches?

What do you do if you climb high and your rope wraps round a peg lower down the tree, that too low for you to sort and too high for your groundie?

And what if you go for a swing and one of those pegs finds your spine!

Pegs also make such nasty fire wood.

Slip and swing into a peg- damaged spine, bust a few ribs or just a simple impalement? Why take the chance?
