Uses for Norway spruce?

What can norway spruce be used for timber wise?

 

ranges from 6 inch up to 20+ inch. apprantley it cant be used in fencing as the tanalised stuff wont mix correctly or something similar? Is there any more uses than firewood and kindling?

long enough pieces make good hitting sticks. for generally hitting stuff!

Makes very good biomass for CHP plants if you can ring the trees 6 months before you chip. Looks ugly prior to chipping and can be a fire hazard because the timber is so dry

Did think of that but didnt no if being softwood would have any effect. its something to consider. thanks

Norway makes nice tone woods. It can be used in fencing as far as i'm aware or at least the 2.5m 6" top stuff we sold off as fencing material was ok.

 

Makes great chip wood too.

norway spruce always been used for fencing, much the same as stika spruce in uses, tends to grow slightly slower, but mainly straighter in stems.

Sorry for the hijack, but if anyone would be willing to discuss with me, perhaps at some length, how they would manage a plantation of norway spruce, originally planted as christmas trees at roughly 4ft spacings but now some 25 foot tall, please PM me!

maybe ive been misinformed but i thought that new regualtions with tanalising wood means that its doesnt mix well with norway spruce so it isnt used for fencing:confused1:

unless they have banned some of the chemicals used in tanalising, i ll find that 1 out

Norway Spruce makes good fencing materials.It is ecellent to mill as well,better than sitka.We have been milling norway on our Petterson bench for years and it is great to work with.
