This winter I am mostly burning gangland murder victims..........

I split a load of yew Autumn 2009 - Clearview burns it very well. A large lump on tickover lasts 6 to 8 hours and overnight no probs.

 

Plus a nice stock of chunky oak.....

Mainly willow, Silver Birch, mixed with some rather smokey pine from limbs that fell off in snow last year, and mixed with builders softwood timber offcuts (which last no time at all). The willow is fine, burns clean and easily, as long as it is kept dry because it soon soaks up the water, and I think it takes up more space. Left over clean pallets make great kindling. Next will be Ash and Adler.

spalted beech, hottest stuff yet. Felled it one day, on the log pile the next. I have bent the back plate in the fireplace and its only a year old, heres a couple of bits my dad rescued.

HI all this winter we are burning on our euro heat stove 16kw log size 12/18 ins long season beech ash oak put the oak on at night open vents on stove in the morning and up she goes:thumbup1: just the job no gas bill all the best jon:thumbup:
