if i was u and looking for a smaller saw i would be looking at a 357 xp (that would be for bloking down) for ground work stick with the 441 20inch bar saves u bending ur back .

its weight v power and what ever makes the job goes better

has anyone got one or used one my 260 is getting tired now thinking of treating myself iam stihl like a stick of rock all my saws are stihl so any reviews on saw would be good thanks.

 

I've had a MS 261 for a few months, and the only thing that annoys me a little, is that it is a little slow to reduce the revs when letting go of the gas. Possibly a carb adjustment problem - the idle factory setting is a little high, too. Havn't been concerned enough to do anything about it, yet.

I was out at the weekend doing firewood with a mate & my 261 didnt seem much heavier than his MS 250 - so far a great saw with plenty of go, picks up the revs nicely but yes dose seem to ru on a bit after lifting off

Just had to scrap our old (1998) 260/026 as the piston seized solid. Now ordered a 261 with 16 inch bar and looking forward to getting it.

ive had my 261 a few months got from jonsie at at a price no one could touch very good saw performing well.

It was given as part exchange for the 261. As it was so old and had barely any new parts (new airfilter 2007, new spark plug 2008) it was a good example of how well stihl use. It is currently in the workshop of our main dealer waiting to be mounted to the wall with a little plaque beneath it.
