Run a new saw like you stole it!

 

I have a 46 and 66 that wont die and run bleedin great.

 

No need to replace them with something newer and unknown!!

 

Although as Mr Blair said a new saw does smell nice.:thumbup1:

i have got 3 x 076`s. these have got to be well over 12 years old. never let me down. i sometimes run them with 36 or 50 inch bars or on the double ended sperber 4ft mill . bril saws bags of grunt, just a wee bit greedy on the fuel. but then so is the 880......

For those of you who don't read the instruction manual, a Stihl one states that the engine will not be run-in until 3-6 tankfulls have been run through the saw...

 

Yep, we know that, I dont mean run in, I mean a year or two later and its still getting better.

there is a big difference between the “run-in period” from when full power/rpm/load can be used to when something is bedded in and running fully at its optimum which takes place a significant time later.

Is it because you are surprised that it still runs good or is it that you are getting better at maintaining/sharpening it.

Only way to know for sure would be to put it on a test bench
