chip box help?

after buying a new tipping body for my renault i am thinking of building the chip box from grp panels instead of steel has any body else used them.

company i sub to has a grp body built by tipmaster. its fantastic stuff. when he first rolled up with his new truck i was scpetical how well it would hold up to having logs chucked in the back etc....but theres not a ding on it. also grp is repairable i believe, so if you do knock a hole in it, it can be patched somehow....im sure someone will have more info on that

cheers for that steve a few company's here have them was having a quick gander on fleabay and if my maths is right should be able to get the panels and the ally framing for under £500 and it should look better plastered in sign writing

Have you considered using Spruce/Pitch Pine boards like on the old Unimogs? (U600-U421). Strong and will allow some flex without breaking and looks much nicer than plastic.

with the weight of that i will get a spoonfull of wood chip in the back need to keep weight down to maximise wood chip:001_tt2:

I've got to do the chip box on my truck and have just read this thread as its still got wooden sides which look tatty. Which one on the list should you use??? It looks much better and lighter than 2 layers of metal.

1 i found on fleabay is selling the grp at £2.60p per square foot will ring service metals and see if they can do it cheaper
