With so much emphasis put on tv have you ever thought of switching it off and listening to the radio ? Its suprising how entertaining it can be.Be it the highly informative radio 4,talksport or the various dab music channels. If you have never listened to Absolute 80 s radio give it a go,its fabulous and if your from that era it's uncanny how many memories it activates

I will be switching off the TV and listening to the Radio as of 25th November and will be doin so for the entire duration of the Ashes. Most of my colleagues are really into cricket but the apprentice and the trainee aren't too keen on listenin to it all winter. We will soon bring them round.

I have radio 4 on all day - love the farming progs and the early morning shipping weather.

But then day time tv is primarily for brain deads. I cannot watch soap operas, game shows, "celebrity" shows, false talent shows etc so its the discovery channell and sports channels for me!

At the weekends i would watch the Ashes and have a crate of beer on the go as well.Just hope n pray that if the sister is in it wont go onto her bloody prgrammes....Come Dine with Me, Hollyoaks, Eastenders, Hannah Montana, Thats So Raven and Sonny with a Chance. She is 19 years old by the way. Apparently the programmes i watch are boring as they contain too much info. You can tell the one with the higher grades and a much better job prospect.

Talksport all the way for me. Might give Radio 4 a go.

Was loving arrow rock radio on DAB when we first got ours.

I hate tv and think it should be banned unless it is in some way informative about the world.

Good to see pictures sometime but the radio lets your mind work.I once spent a whole year without tv and found it to be inspirational. Could easy do it again but the mrs is hooked on x factor and casualty, holby etc etc

It's all about the comedy shows on radio 4, usually 6.30pm weekdays.

Just A Minute and I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue (although the newer incarnations aren't as good without Humph! Jack Dee has been quite good though as the chairman) are the stand out shows, although there are loads of brilliant topical, satirical and just silly shows.

They are still learning, they have big shoes to stand in ,the likes of Nicholas Parsons and Humphrey Littleton, but I tip my hat to them, they will get there, just look at Paul Merton ...He's established for years
