ive used tenex now for a couple of years and never had any probs with it its very easy to splice your own eye to eye and cheap at 2 qiud A meter. does seem to bind when covered in pine sap though! i think that imo if you start a days climb with a sound prussic and come out at the end with a dangerous one then this may be due to your technique rather than the cord you use. i am queit new to climbing(2 half yrs) so this may not be right just my thougths. carlos

Am I right in thinking that standard tenex and the samson tenex a different in there heat resistance. I have just looked on the samson website and on http://www.wesspur.com and the description of the samson tenex is I quote

"An extremely heat-resistant, 12 strand prusik from Samson that is easy to splice, has a soft feel, and makes great eye and eye tails. 80% Technora/20% polyester blend. 8,500 lbs. breaking strength".

so to burn this rope out you would have to be doing the old SAS descent.

Thats no tenex in theat description, Tenex is polyester.

Tenex has 12 strands, Tenex tec has 12 strands each strand being made up of 2 'carriers'.

Samsons page isn't opeing for me just now, It sounds like bailout or ice tail. which ever is teh 12 strand version. (i think bailout is a doublebraded rope)
