Hey guys, as a business owner i'm getting an increasing number of phone calls (from mainly scousers!) about advertising for charity leaflets/publications, and the most recently 'the chance to be the tree surgeon of choice for the police, fire brigade, and ambulance service.' Promising me loads of work and an advert in a magazine educating the public about rogue traders!! They only want debit card transactions (therefore your money will disapear for ever) and no advert or publication ever gets circulated.

My dad is in the motor trade near bristol and gets pestered with the same scams too.

Just wanted to warn other tree folk that these parasites are about and use all sorts of cunning stories to try and catch you out!

Please...you have been warned!!

Pete

P.s No offence intended to liverpudlians not involved in advertising scams!!:001_smile:

Your right mate, it is annoying and such a waste of good working time...

I just wanted to point it out to anyone who hadn't had the misfortune of dealing with these people yet, as the thought of anyone parting with their hard earned money to such scams makes me sick!

Yer I've recently had a run in with these there all scams,

what were the firms called?

I had

BCS multimedia

Blueline publication

and foresters trust for children

some are sending me fake debt collection letters

I remember the bloke from 'the foresters' (liverpudlian accent) i asked him to email me some details through and recieved nothing!! Suprise suprise!

Then a bloke from Burnley phoned with the offer of advertising in a children abuse awareness calender...same thing happened (no email)

Then today, another scouser pretending to be phoning from the police media and marketing department (!!!) telling me that for 300 quid i could be the sole tree surgeon in a publication which was coming out and that i would be given tree work with local care homes and hospitals! Once again no email sent through and all of the above were phoning from withheld numbers and wouldn't give me a surmane or adress!

They all wanted payment from debit cards (which is the crucial thing as far as the scam goes, as you can kiss goodgye to that money for good!)

Rant over...

Pete

They are great sport if you have the time - play along to the end and give them bum card details. They are not going to call you back and if they do . . . more sport. While you are keeping them occupied others will not be ripped off.
