Crane choice will depend on the sizes of wood you need to move and payload of the vehicle. Mowi make a fine crane or an old type Atlas for large lumps.

Hi TL,

Ive done my research now on makes of crane, registering, 'o' licence etc but need to find a 4x4 7.5 crane truck.

I stand to be corrected on this but that’s the in between before Bedford became AWD.

The only real change was the badge and cab. The remainder hasn’t changed much since the MK but at least these have a tilt cab

Haydock isn’t a million miles from me, if you make a trail north to look at it I will give it the once over for you.

It will be a 4 tonner in military terms so the GVW in civvy street will be about 10 tons HGV licence, O licence or wing it on “AG”.

Cheers Andy,

After the info supplied by you guys last night, I've read up on 'o' licence and im also considering the LGV test. That way it's all ticked off. The tests are only going to become tougher and the fines higher for winging it.

Problem with 7.5t the costs are the same and the payload is bugger all.

I'll dwell on it for a couple more nights and then consider digging out my passport and heading north.

Hi nevi I buy and sell alot of plant but I have drunk too much so take this with a pinch of salt but . The crane looks straight and clean the cab looks straight and clean and its not antique even the tyre has good tread. The miles for a truck look low. Its in the wrong setting and needs a good wash. The man selling it has picked up a few negs so will curb the interest. If you decide its not to big I would ring him and see if you can do a deal if he really doesnt know much about them he may come down. Have a look maybe a pic of the interior tells alot of stories.

they are ~13t 180hp (500ci turbo) vs. MK's @ 9.6t 100hp (330ci) or MJ's @ 105hp (330ci turbo)

they have a tilting cab and PAS (unlike mk/mj) Bedford trucks/AWD is part of Marshall’s of Cambridge AKA: Marshall Group - Land Systems. (or they were 10 years ago!)
