Mondays job - Rig the crown off this copper beech. Client had a pre-purchase tree report done before paying out half a million quid for her house. Then these appeared. Doh.

 

The current thinking is the previous owner removed them before the report.

They extend round the entire circumference of the root zone and up to a metre away from the base. Gnarly.

 

Tight dismantle too. But I haven't got any pics of that, as I haven't got the balls to take my camera up the tree!

Yeah, crap phone camera can't deal with the sunlight contrast. Definately the beech's favourite Meripilus giganteus root demolition expert!

 

We're preparing a report to support the idea that fungal invasion of this extent and type could be expected to have shown fruiting bodies earlier before the previous report.

Have been doing a slightly odd job crown lifting poplars the last 3 days. In my opinion they look a little odd but hey, the guy paid well and we used a cool MEWP for a lot of it.
