it is forest fires that done it as they need it to live ,there were loads of old truncks from ones that have blown over in the forest ,fungi dont rot the truncks so fire is needed to clear dead wood from floor for regeneration .as it a park i went to they have controlled burning

i did the same in nz, with a huge kauri tree in a rainforest, it is no where near as big as cutters. its on photo somewhere and dont have a scanner. worth the risk i say. he he:001_smile:

Yeah mate! Definately! I jumped a fence and climbed over a little wall to get my long suffering fiance to take a photo of me in front of a whopping Plane tree on Holiday!! Had to do what she wanted for a few days after that!!
