Reminds me of what my old felling mentor used to say...

Yes but cutting them up when their on the floor like that is a real skill, at least when you dismantle em their still nailed down!

Could it not have been felled when the leaf was off ?, that looks like a saleable butt.

 

We looked at it before part of the top had blown out after a windy night. This had flattened a section of the wall, so it made the job tonnes easier and saved me sectioning it down.

 

It's a shame about the wood, however it had been a good tree for the farmers kids over the years and was full of everything; nails, pignett and stones in crotches!

Heres a job from earlier on in the year, dismantling and whole tree removal of several Poplars at cleckheaton near Leeds for a local contractor, if i can get the videos to upload i will do later.

Why did they take them all out Leyburn??

 

I went to look at that job (Bout 3 mile away from me) and can recall two of the Poplars needed taking down because of cambium damage due to fire, but the rest were fine.

 

I priced for taking the two or three damaged ones out and deadwooding the rest, no mention was made of wanting them all down.

As far as I know it was insurance issues regarding the carpark, but don't quote me on this as I was called in at the last moment as there usual climber had not turned in, that was my first crane job for about 4yrs so arse hole nipped on the first couple till the confidence came back and then we had a little incident with a butt end on the one in the corner by the old folks home. Clown pants(me) walked so far out on branch to place the chains and then back to put the cuts in by the main stem, swung myself around back of trunk for safety and let the crane take the strain, branch snaps of butt end shot up and came round my side of the tree under the life line and proceded to lift me at great speed back up the tree, when it stopped I casually lifted myself out of the way and proceeded to chain smoke embassy filter showing a brave front whilst sh@#ting bricks to the rear:scared1:.
