General Tree pics

Couple of pics from this week:

1 and 2 are a reduction of an Acer negundo (same tree from different angles)

3 and 4 are before and after of a crown thin on a beech.

 

The lens on my phone was covered in dust so apologies for the quality.

Cheers fellas. Acer negundo was in Downend, Beech was in Kingsweston.

Thats an odd place for it to fail if it did have Meripilus, looks like it could have gone in the area of the graft....

 

i'm pretty sure it was meripilus but when it fell it had all died back it was in a summer rain storm when it fell, it was a very large limb, and it had at some point had a cavity around the graft. the fracture was likely nothing to do with the fungus but i wonder if it may have accelerated other problems the tree had.

 

BTW. the stone under it seemed to tell its age

Just got back from the Portes du soleil, (french Alps) for a bit of boarding.

 

Couple of trees from the trip...

 

My mate improvising and taking out a couple of spruce for his mate (the chalet owner) No comment on the lack of this or that please, I wanted to show the scenery.

 

same mate on another tree... in the stash, a board park designed by burton and made entirely outta wood or tree trunks.

 

oh, and some proper pollards on the south shore or Lac Leman. (lake Geneva)

there was one the same beside it, and i took down the 2 conifers as well, the birches were 60footers, a shame really. the guy had just had enough of them, they were pretty close to the nieghbours. if only all trees were as easy as birches to do. maybe the boys will get a play one day mate at a show.

Nothing wrong with a little crash-bang-wallop good fella, tis the council way you know! I'm a firm believer that if there is an easier way to do things, with less effort and less risk - Go for it!!

oh and all the trees you see were stolen by the previous owner from the m74 behind his house a few years back
