For members in Aberdeenshire........

Just had a guy on the phone from Ellon wanting a load of softwood.

I quoted £100 for 2.5m3. (a good 2.5m3)

He told me he could get that for amount for £55 delivered from someone more local.

Anyone know if someone is delivering at that sort of price? or is it nonsense.

I dont often sell firewood, but if someone local is desperate I sell it by the tonne (an approximation).

Most people I refer to a friend who sells also by the tonne, I ve never asked how much he charges but heard it was about £200 for 2.5 tonnes of mixed wood (hard and softwood).

Do you know roughly how much weight is in a m3 ?

Going by that then, I would guess the guy on the phone was at it.

What your charging seems to be the same as the 2 people I know who sell locally (north Angus / south Kincardineshire areas).

I would stick to your price.

I came to that conclusion as well.

since my original post I've had a couple more similar calls (from different areas)

They both cited £30 ton as the going rate.

When i questioned further i discovered they were talking about sawmill offcuts that you have to collect yourself. These offcuts are very green and burn in a haze of steam. So no competition really.

As my Marketing manaher has just stated (cheers kyle:thumbup:) My price is £100/2.5m3 laod for softwood.
