Is someone actually trying to tell me that such as the city of London have been spreading commercial waste around their veteran trees?

No.

It's tree surgery arisings that have been recycled into bio-degradable mulch.

Is it really not that black and White to the environment agency or whatever other powers that may be?

Seem like some of the Police/Vosa/EA have a different personal view depending on where the vehicle is based in the UK. In this area "Woodchips" from Tree Surgery is often classed as waste however from woodlands is classed as a product. Logs are also the same unless purchased direct from a woodland site.

I always ask when stopped if there is a current book the person can provide me to make sure we keep within the law which throws them. Agricultural/Forestry vehicle tread depth is a difficult one for them as well.

Stopping the woodchips blowing off the back is very important as is a log net.

Dean, i'm up for your idea of a test case.

If we all chuck £20-00 in a pot. the first one of us to be taken to court gets his costs paid..

Easy !!!!!!!!

Thats along the lines I was thinking, this issue affects everyone and with over 8000 arbtalk members, donating to cover the costs of the person brave enough to take on a test case whomever that may be, shouldn't cost the donatees a fortune :001_smile:

Dean - I'd imagine that a truly dedicated anti-authoritarian might consider telling the EA in advance where and when he was going to breach their regulations... :D

As for using the power of the 'talk to fund your legal fees - take a look at the money raised in the Xmas raffle. Then half it to reflect the number of members who actually care about the issue, then half it again to account for the inevitable inconsistency of human nature... so under £1000. Hmmmm.
