to be honest if you can use a distel just like a prussik , i tend to use a distel on my small rope with no pully , as for it locking up it depends on how you tie it and how many wraps you use . Each person uses different lengths of cord dependent on length of arm and how you climb . personally i would buy 5 meters of cord and try out a couple . the other tip is to untie a prussik and see how long it is - you will want to add about another 12 inches to allow for the fishermans at each end . hope this is of use to you
