How cheap to customers want logs

i agree bob - there are many log suppliers in my area - and most of them sell fresh cut, unseasoned wet logs at a cheaper rate - which is great for people who have a large log store and don't mind buying their logs years in advance

we only sell seasoned dry stuff - that can be used straight away - and we are obviously going to charge more for it

to be honest - if people don't like our prices and want to get their logs elsewhere then it is no skin off my nose - i would rather supply and look after our regulars and make sure that we have enough logs to keep them warm through the winter :001_smile:

Delivered some logs to a new customer the other day. She is an old lady who had just downsized to a house (from mansion) & we were chatting about the price of wood. She agreed with me that it was too cheap. Said she had so much land previously that she was self sufficient, but with the cost of employing people to fell & log the trees it would have been cheaper to have just bought it in.

firewood is hard to come by unless you got some good deals in place with woodland management etc, Certianly Wood are advertising at £128 on the web, and they are getting it for as low as £7-14 good mk up if you gan get it.

A cubic metre of wood will cost them £30 + cost to process + £50 for pallet freight. Not trying to be funny just pointing out that the margins on firewood quickly get eroded when you break or replace your toys and up the real costs.
