Ideal saw for groundwork?

This is what impressed me at Jonesies show.

The Powersharp will never make me want to get rid of my hand sharpened chains on 361's, 440's, Husky 351 etc., but will work alongside them for dirty wood and roots etc.

The chain cut much better after being blunted than any of the above, BTW.

The only problem is that I would have to make room for a dedicated saw for the system, but my truck is overloaded anyway so WTF?

440 is a bloody brilliant saw!!!!!!!!!! amazing power to weight ratio and we run two of them either with 20" or somtimes a 25" felling hardwoods, 460's are great used them with 18" and 25" bars and they have amazing power, they both have their place :001_smile:

as for the 240 and the 650 they are just other saws with slightly less power than the above models and to be honest with stihls prices how they are now i bet they sell a fair few as they are slightly cheaper

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the 440 is a bad saw just for 50 quid more you can get a 460 which in my opinion is worth every penny, and not a huge stretch considering. If you are going to fork out £520 ex vat you might as well stretch to £570 and get a more powerful saw. Makes even more sense when you take the ms240 and ms260. For £30 more you get nearly 10cc more grunt. The difference is more than noticable. I find the 240 hugely underpowered.

Have used a 440 and a 441, and neither of them are a patch on the 460 (run a 25" bar on mine too, would love to get an 18" bar for it aswell.). The 44s have a place but its the same place as the 46 which does exactly the same job, only better so:001_tt2:.
