Many moons ago I did a degree in multimedia design. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that many compositions I'd created conformed to things like the golden mean and certain 'rules' of composition without knowing it. I find that an appreciation of nature and good design lends itself to creating these kinds of images. Guidelines are useful for getting and idea of what works where but aren't the be all and end all.

Now your getting into deep stuff and yes i think da vinci worked all that out from what is pleasin to the eye, and he had a good eye himself, so I guess he was pretty well placed to deduce THE method of composition.

Humans are visualy biassed, and yes one with an eye for an image could and will be naturaly capable, we all have a gift that we are born with, a natural talent. its finding that gift in US that is the hard part.

i couldnt agree more, mother nature is uba artistic, we merely imitate the examples. In the not too distant future, design will be increasingly dictated by the rules layed out within nature, for it is optimal.

right down to the cellular level

Having natural flair is what seperates the average from the elite, training via a classical method will make you very good at what it is that you do, but to be true artisan, it must be in ones blood, no amount of training can change your blood.

From seeing a lot of peoples work over the years, this is what I think.

I may not have said it as blunt as this, but it is the conclusion I have come to.

When you say blunt did you take it that i was refering to you! lol

no no no!

Im just speaking the truth, in a general way. You knew what i meant by it, I hope!:001_huh:

It is true though, and we ALL have that inherently within, to become elite/artisans, its just a case of finding what it is within us that makes us so good at it.

Aspergers syndrone is of epidemic levels within silicone valley, this is due to the ELITE living and working there, the combined effect of couples with Hi IQ is thought to be the leading cause of the marked statistical fact, aspergers is rife amoung those who work there, they have by this "flaw" a supreme ability to do what they do.

Even those who seem at odds with the rest of us, or dont fit in, will be elite at something, you just have to find it.

One day i hope to evaluate what it is that i will excel at!:001_smile:

I'm staying away from who's got it and who hasn't, as much as possible. Lots of fine stuff on this forum. And if someone is put off from shareing a photo they have taken that would be a shame.

Suffice just to say thats a nice picky when you see something you like. Could also be because a moment is captured or a story is told or a memory preserved.

Me and you are doing what we are doing and thats good, I asked for advice and criticism in the first place. I did feel that I wanted to debate further that composition should be so governed by rules and thats going rather nicely too.

The blunt bit, I mean't that I believe its in the blood and youv'e either got it or you haven't, and might not have said it if you hadn't said it, but once you did say it I had to agree:001_smile:

lol, i was merely pointing out that EVERYONE has skills that they are born with!

nothing more Albedo!

I was not implying that anyone and everyone whos any good at stuff is "different"

Some people are born with a talent, others develope it over a lifetime, thats all.

I shall stick to answering those direct questions! and related to your camera! lol
