So, after a month from first going to look at this tree. seeing its faults, and realising this will be a good challenge.

2 days, one 8 hour day and a 12 hour day the next. expected two trailer loads max, and this trailer is a big 12t agri trailer. 2 full loads of chip, 2 loads of brash and remaining logs. wow.

Got some good pics, a cracking experience was had, weather held out both days.

Video is going to youtube as i post this.

two pictures with the split were the split noticed in the scaffold limb to one side, i think thats a pretty good reason for it to split, as a lot of the wood was like this. at the points where the ferns were growing out of the cavity, there was only occluding bark on the opposite side, with two ribs of wood about 6" thick either side covering round 3/4 of the stem. Some good sights on this one, was a shame to take it down, but i loved it to be honest.

This was a bit of a make or break moment so far for me, my biggest job yet. With it being a big oversight as to how much volume was being removed, but with the help of a couple friends, i stopped myself from letting it get me down and i grit my teeth, dug my heels in and kept going.

20 hours on site in total, 7 hours sleep between it.

I love the way in picture 3, you are walking out on a limb completely pointlessly. You could have roped it and cut it with a pole saw, pulling it with a skid steer. Just watch the Cherry limb swing video for more tips. haha

Could save you about 14 hours.

Well done!

Experience is a good school.

Carry on like that and they will get easier every time.

And the easier they get, the faster you'll do 'em, the more you'll enjoy it, the more you'll earn.

Not sure about the two 12 tonne trailer fulls of chips, mind. :sneaky2::laugh1:
